The subsoil

Our vineyard, the source of a wine brimming with character and tradition, is nestled atop a scenic hill, just a stone's throw from the San Sebastiano chapel in Monforte d'Alba. We opted to cultivate Barbera on this hill's summit to harness its excellent drainage capabilities, preventing the clusters from swelling excessively due to their naturally compact nature. The elevated winds at this location facilitate swift drying and hasten the ripening process.

San Sebastiano marks the first territory encountered upon entering the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, following the San Luigi valley. The vineyard is situated in the heart of the hamlet, abutting the delightful San Sebastiano chapel, and extends across the crest of the ridge leading toward Monchiero. Here, the soils originate from the Sant’Agata Fossil Sandy Marls, which, on certain slopes, have undergone an evolutionary process, resulting in deeper, richer hues.
