Vinification and aging

Harvest takes place in October, followed by alcoholic fermentation in oak vats. Subsequently, it undergoes aging in untoasted large French oak barrels. The wine is not filtered.

Wine characteristics

The color is ruby with subtle hints; on the nose, you’ll find fruity notes of peach and blackberry, delicate floral hints of rose, and subtle touches of spice like pepper and licorice. On the palate, it is substantial, supported by lively yet well-integrated tannins; it finishes with a fresh and pleasing acidity.

The subsoil

On our estate, the Roncaglie vineyard is situated within the municipality of La Morra, positioned in the central section of the east-facing ridge at an altitude of approximately 300 meters. This vineyard was planted in the 1980s.

The area is part of the Sant’Agata Fossil Marls Laminated, dating back to the Tortonian-Messinian transition period.
