The Nebbiolo in Dogliani

The “doglianese” essence

San Luigi is a valley steeped in viticultural history within the Dogliani region. However, it's also a diverse region that, in certain areas, proves ideal for Nebbiolo cultivation. In the beginning of the 20th century, the Chionetti family planted Nebbiolo vines on soils facing south, in one of the lowest-lying areas where Dolcetto didn't thrive as well. It's from these very vineyards that our Langhe Nebbiolo La Chiusa emerged, bearing a distinct "Doglianese" character, notably reflected in its refreshing notes.

The Nebbiolo vineyards are situated at a lower elevation compared to the family’s other estates in Dogliani, benefiting from a south and southwest exposure. The soil is of a lighter composition, and the location enjoys a notably sheltered position.
