The subsoil

The eastern slope of the San Luigi hill, where our Briccolero originates, is characterized by its steep incline and southeast-facing exposure. This distinct feature, combined with the cooler Dogliani climate, fosters a gradual and harmonious grape ripening process, ultimately achieving a perfect balance. The vines, averaging around 55 years in age, are rooted in light, calcareous soils.

The steep slope and windy environment encourage a continual rejuvenation of the topsoil. The soils in this area are characterized by a light composition of clay, silt, and sand. Notably, there is a substantial presence of sand, high levels of calcium carbonate, and an alkaline pH.
